recappery redux
The sidebar is screening financial planners in the event I win the $120 million Powerball on Saturday.

The sidebar is an idealist.

Okay. I haven't updated in forever, which means two things: #1, I'm out of the habit, so I can't think of anything to write about, and #2, I have so much to write about, because a lot has happened since the last time I updated. Such as...

  • I lost another 11 pounds, for a grand total of 32.

  • I took the (way easy, will look like fool if failed) Kansas bar.

  • I watched my best friend get married, surprising everyone in the church except about five of us by reciting her vows in Turkish. For no particular reason.
    • No, I'm kidding. It's because her husband is Turkish! She surprised him. It was quite lovely.

  • I opened up Elizabeth's Law Firm by getting a post office box across the street from my office. I needed it to be in Missouri, as that is the only place I'm licensed -- for the moment (see above).
    • This is because the bride and groom are trying to get their money back from the limo driver.
    • This is because the limo driver was 40 minutes late to the church, and because he brought his girlfriend along to ride shotgun with him, and because he didn't have any idea how to get anywhere.

  • I bought a new computer, a desktop. I'm not going to tell you the brand, because I know someone will write and say, "Boy, you shouldn't have bought that brand! They suck!" But I wanted the pretty cow boxes, okay?
    • Oops.
    • Anyway, it's sweet. 1100-Mhz processor, 128 MG of RAM, 20 gig hard drive.
      • Okay, so, that might not seem all that sweet to you, but keep in mind that what I have now is a 4-year-old AcerNote laptop with a 150-Mhz processor, 32 MG of RAM, and a 1.25 gig hard drive. So I'd say I'm moving up.
    • And, I'm getting the bitchin' CD-R/RW drive. Now I can be cool and make my own CD's with all those songs on Napster!!
      • What?
    • Oh. Well, whatever. It's going to be here on the 23rd, so I'm stoked.

  • I saw Original Sin with Tara, basically for no other reason than to see Antonio Banderas's ass, but I was surprised at how bad it wasn't.
    • For once, I agree with Roger Ebert, who appears to be the only other person on earth who actually enjoyed it for what it was.
      • Then again, Roger is kind of a perv, so he probably only liked it because the only thing you saw more often than Antonio's ass were Angelina's boobs.
    • Anyway, it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but it was far from the worst.

  • I sat in a psychiatrist's office and lied, lied, lied, because they are insisting on medicating me for ADD and I don't need it but they won't believe me. So I walked out with a prescription that I have no intention of filling and told them I'd be back in three months.

  • I bought *NSYNC's new CD.
    • Oh yes I did.
    • The God's honest truth is that I enjoy the hell out of these kids.
    • Unsub if you must, but I will no longer live the lie.

  • I re-wrote three-quarters of what was arguably the worst episode of The X-Files' 8th season, "Badlaa," for the Alternative Season 8 project. It's currently in content beta, and will be premiering on the site September 8th.
    • No, I wasn't planning on writing an episode, but the original "Badlaa" author backed out.
    • So I picked up the slack and found myself a co-writer in Sacramento who, in a strange and Files-like coincidence, has the exact same birthday as I do, minus one year.
    • Which means, of course, that we are 1219 Productions.
    • We are so clever.

  • I hauled the two chairs, small table, and really big storage bin from my balcony into my living room because the apartment complex said they were going to "power-wash" the exterior last week.
    • They haven't done it yet.
    • I'm tired of all this plastic furniture in my living room.
    • Besides which, it could all use a good power-washing, anyway.

  • I got very little accomplished today because this weekend the Blue Angels are doing an air show at the downtown airport (about a mile from my office) and they were practicing all day.
    • Except I can't see out the window from where I sit, so I had to get up every five minutes and go look at them.

I think that about covers it. I am slowly easing back into the habit of actually expounding on these subjects and others on a fairly frequent basis. So stay tuned.
