"Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire..."

Oh.

Well, it IS frightful, I don't have anyplace to go (like school -- we closed at noon today, which was nice because my first and only class wasn't until 1:00), so, as the song says, let it snow!!

I actually got up at around 7:30 this morning because Katherine called me from her husband's house (about an hour and a half from here) wondering if we still had school. First of all, I had no idea that we were even supposed to get any snow, so I was quite surprised when I looked out the window. But at that time, not even the public schools in my county were closed, so I went back to bed, fully expecting to get up to go keep my Westlaw hours from 10:00 until my class at 1:00.

Whatever. I slept in until 10:30, when I was again awakened by the phone, but this time it was a guy from my trial team wondering if we were having rehearsal tonight since school had been cancelled.

Being the good little future lawyers that we are, we're having our rehearsal tonight. But it's still a snow day, which is way cool. You don't get many snow days as an adult.

As happy as I would have been to lie around the house in my pajamas until tonight, I had barely a morsel of food in the house. No bread, no cheese, no salad, no lunch meat, no milk, no juice, no snacks, no diet Coke. So I took my shower, dried my hair, scraped the four or five inches of snow off my car and braved the elements to the grocery store.

I now have all of those things plus a lot of other stuff. I almost took out part of the grocery cart storage thingy in the parking lot, but other than that, it was fine.

Now I'm wondering what to do with my day. I think it's going to be homework, but I'm definitely reading Harry Potter while I eat lunch. I'm entitled to a little bit of snow-dayish activity.

I hate to appear completely ignorant, but was there ever a State of the Union address? I thought it was always in January. Did I miss it completely? I do try to read my entire Newsweek each week, and it would surprise me if it already happened and I really heard nothing about it.

I must go investigate that.

Apparently snow days don't provide much in the way of entertaining entries. I think that's it for today. I have my Nilla Wafers and plenty of diet Coke, so let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
