Ah, well, no snow day. We are on a two-hour delay, which means a later start time and shorter classes, but still, we can't come to school in pajamas. I could live my entire life in pajamas and be completely happy. Pajamas rock. I wanted to announce to everyone that as a result of some divine intervention, every student at this school will have the option of getting FrontPage 2000 for free. As proud as I am of being a Notepad girl (and yes, I am aware that there is a term out there for those who use HTML editors), I think it's time that I put style over purity and see what I can really do. Of course, it will be short-lived. I don't know if I've made this absolutely clear, but the fact is that the countdown on the index page isn't just to graduation, but it is also be a countdown to the end of this journal. Unfortunately, I have to be realistic about what my summer will be like, and the time constraints I will have will be a bit prohibitive as to any extra-curricular activity. Given my law school exam performance, the bar exam is going to be harder for me than it is for most people (and it's hard enough for those people), so I have to be very conscious of any other ongoing commitments. I have already decided to get a dog, and I'm fairly certain that's going to be distraction enough. Trying to keep up the journal will just be too tempting. So as hard as it will be, I'll simply have to extricate myself from the journaling community, as a writer, at least. But Abeyance will be truly in abeyance, at least through the end of July. (I'm not sure I could give up reading altogether, nor would I consider letting go of my treasured online friendships. Plus the notify list will still be active, and I'll check in with you all from time to time.) What I am planning on doing is starting up again in the fall, and this time clue people in on it right from the start, be "out" as far as my name and location are concerned. I'd also like to really work at making it graphically appealing as well as verbally appealing, and I may even look into getting my own domain, although it won't be www.abeyance.com, as that is currently on the market for $600. (Whatever.) But we certainly don't have to be concerning ourselves with this just yet. I've got a few good months left. I think that may be all for today. I have to do a little reading for a class I have in twenty minutes. (See how much this journal makes me misprioritize?) And please send good thoughts to Derrick Thomas, the Kansas City Chief who was partially paralyzed in a car accident on Sunday. The football world is full of bad guys, but he's truly one of the good guys. |
