the first of november, a monday

It's 9:30 Monday morning, and I've been up for two hours, even though my first class isn't until 11, and I went to bed last night at 2:30, after going through a minor computer-related scare.

The scare was basically that I'm a computer idiot and really have no business having a website because I can't troubleshoot to save my life. See, my Netscape Communicator kept jamming in Tripod. When I go in to update, it jams up while loading the page for me, to where I have to ctrl-alt-del to get out of the browser. However, my old Navigator 3.0 works like a dream when I update. I casually discussed this problem in very non-specific terms with my web-designer friend, who suggested that I just download the new version of Communicator, 4.7, and uninstall the old one.

So I did, and in a stupid leap of faith, got rid of the Navigator as well. (Or so I thought.) Well, of course the new Communicator still jams up when I try to update, and I panicked because I thought I had lost the Navigator, and Internet Explorer is useless in Tripod as well. But it turns out that I just removed the shortcut to Navigator, not the whole thing, which is still nicely available in my Programs menu.

But I'm still annoyed that I can't use the spanking-new browser to update. It's a pain in the ass having to switch back and forth.

I really ought to go take a shower. It would be so nice if I actually allowed myself more than three minutes to get across the street to class.

I was greatly disturbed, on several levels, to find out that Mulder and Scully are going to kiss, for real this time, on the November 28 episode.

Okay, so, that by itself upsets me. Mulder and Scully cannot ever ever ever be together in that way, not in the real/television world. (Hell, that's what fan fiction is for.) Now, I firmly believe that this should be the show's last season. David Duchovny has said that he is definitely leaving, and I won't watch it if they just pair Scully up with someone new. Besides, I can't really imagine that Gillian Anderson wants to keep going either. I have a sneaking suspicion that they're both sick to death of being these characters, and probably also of each other. But just because this is the last season doesn't mean that they should pull out all the stops as far as the relationship goes. No, no, no.

The other thing that disturbed me about this story is that I saw it on Headline News this morning. Granted, it's the short-attention-span news network, but is that story really newsworthy? I'll watch E! News Daily for this kind of groundbreaking information. Sheesh.

Thankfully, the Practice was a rerun last night. Even though it was one I hadn't seen before (it was the first time we meet Joey Heric), I'm glad it was a rerun because I'm two episodes behind in Limelight. Unfortunately, SportsNight is not a rerun tomorrow, and I'm three episodes behind in that show.

This is so like me. I spend hours and hours putting that section together, and last one or two episodes before I slack. It's my number one priority tomorrow afternoon... I will be caught up before I'm four damn episodes behind.

Okay, I'm going to the shower now. It's 9:40, and that's much better than the usual 10:15. It would probably be 10:15 if I tried to update now, so it's going to be way later than 9:40 when you're reading this, but I bet you don't care.
