the twelfth of october, a tuesday

Well, well, well, I've been away a good while, haven't I?

Vacation is a lovely thing. We had yesterday and today off from school, so I've screwed around as per usual. Saturday was the big arts and crafts fair in town with my parents and aunt and uncle, Saturday night was a Blockbuster night, Sunday was at the folks' for laundry, football, and "The Practice" (updated), Monday was a trip with my mother to the closest Barnes & Noble which is about 45 minutes away...

WHERE...

I chanced upon a copy of the Writer's Digest special Journaling magazine (entitled "Personal Journaling") ...

WHERE...

there was an article about online journaling...

WHERE...

I saw Erik's mug, along with links to Rob, Scott, Tracing, and a bunch of others!! I was like, "Hey, I KNOW these people!!" But I didn't have anyone to share with. I obviously couldn't tell my mother, who would wonder why I was so excited. I couldn't even buy the magazine because I didn't want her to ask me about it, but I was really psyched about it. It was like two worlds colliding right there in the Barnes & Noble. Eerie, but cool. Congratulations to all my friends who were linked up there!

I realize that I may be way behind in mentioning this, but I haven't seen anyone write anything about it. (Kymm was interviewed in the article, so she's probably talked about it already, but I actually don't read her regularly, and I fully understand that admitting that will probably banish me to journaling purgatory for all eternity.)

(And no, yours truly wasn't mentioned, but I'm almost glad because I think I would have spontaneously combusted. Journaling Elizabeth and real-life Elizabeth can't exist in the same space at the same time, at least not when my mother's around.)

What else, what else? I got sick from my favorite Chinese food last night, which bums me out because I really liked this place, but now I'm afraid to go back. I used to hardly ever eat Chinese food until I lived in Los Angeles and became addicted to Wok-Fast, which is a Chinese food delivery service.

I didn't eat a lot of things until I moved to L.A. That town does things to you, like making you eat all kinds of things you never dreamed of eating in your small-town Midwestern existence. Things like guacamole, olive paste, and certain kinds of salad greens that looked like they came from the backyard.

I never did get on the sushi bandwagon. That's just asking too much of a Kansas girl who never eats even regular (cooked) fish. My boss used to have sushi for lunch two or three times a week, and he'd always come back and try to gross me out with stories of how his lunch was still squirming around on the plate when he ate it. I'd just throw some Breath-Asure at him and plug my ears.
