Today was the big doctor's appointment day, and the upshot is I'm fine. I probably do have what's called an interductal papilloma, which is a growth in the milk duct, but the breast surgeon who examined me said that unless it starts to hurt or it starts to bleed spontaneously, he's not worrying about it, and neither should I.

So I'm not, and I feel good about that. I'm simply not a worrier, nor am I the kind of person who will keep going to different doctors until someone tells me I have a problem. I trust that these people take my breast health as seriously as I do, and would not pat me on the head and send me on my way unless there was really nothing to worry about.

Maybe the fact that I'm going into a profession where there are no straight answers is the reason I tend to be very forgiving of doctors and the fact that they all say something a little different. The same thing is true with us: if you took your problem to three different lawyers, they'd likely suggest three different courses of action, all mostly the same, but all a little bit different. I can see how it would be the same with doctors.

Anyway. All that matters is that I'm fine. And I want to thank all of you who wrote words of support and encouragement. They meant the world to me.

Because the appointment kept me from making my last class on time, I sort of took the rest of the day off. My mother went to the doctor's with me, so afterward we went to the local bread and cheese shop and I got a delicious blueberry bran muffin and some toasted almond coffee for breakfast, as well as some specialty black bean tortilla chips. Went home, put my stuff together, went to Sam's and carried the super-cheapo scanner around the store with me for a little while, then put it back. (I was very proud of myself.) Bought two t-shirts and two pairs of what I call t-shirt pants (made like sweatpants but with t-shirt material) and a Brita water filter pitcher instead.

Then I went to get a new drivers license, which I lost last week sometime. Then I went to K-Mart and bought an older Brian Setzer Orchestra CD and some saline solution. Then I went to the drug store and bought a Neutrogena lipstick, which I must say is the best lipstick I have ever worn, and a card for my cousin who just got engaged.

Then I came home and watched some fabulous tennis, and I'm now watching "Sixteen Candles" on Dinner and a Movie on TBS.

Not a bad day.
