I cannot write another word without saying how unlucky I am for
offering to help at the picnic last weekend and passing
up my first opportunity
to meet Melissa,
Colleen, and
Kate at Mel's roommate's birthday
party.
However, we have made plans to meet the first weekend in December, and I am so excited. I haven't met anyone from the online journaling realm yet, and if the stories from last weekend and our e-mail conversations are any indication, we are going to die of laughter many times over. So thanks for missing me, you guys. Only 79 days until the four of us are reunited! (We were separated at birth, you know.) Obviously, my brother is going to be fine. (For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about... well, why aren't you on the notify list? He blithely decided to ride out Floyd barricaded in his friend's house in Savannah. At least he didn't stay on Hilton Head, which is where he actually lives.) In other good news, we should be getting more rain from it as well, We are still in quite a state of droughtness, but I think it's a pretty good sign when the local forecast on the Weather Channel says "Chance of Rain 100 Percent." It's also quite chilly, which I love as well. I like the fact that I have to get up and go put on a sweatshirt. I like that a t-shirt isn't cutting it anymore when the windows are open. I cannot wait for the radiators to come on. One thing about watching hurricane news is that I always feel sorry for the low-on-the-totem-pole reporters who have to stand out in the wind and rain in their little slickers in order to tell us how bad the wind and rain are. I know they're in terrible danger but I can't really help but giggle at them. In the "Now I've Seen Everything" files, I found the most bizarre link in my referral logs. Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with the Male Navel Fetish Message Board. Whoever was reading this and was then compelled to read me, uh, hi. I do have a belly button, but I'm not a guy. Please don't stalk me. And to all you journalers out there, I'd love to hear about your weirdest referral link. I took a nap today. It was a great nap, a perfect hour and a half, no interruptions, not even a dream, that I can remember anyway. I woke up to some fantastic organ music on NPR, nice and softly, a little after 7:30, and went about making my dinner, a little three-cheese pasta mix from a box (very simple, very easy, as Chef Tell used to say.) I also got my clothes from Land's End, and I'll tell you what: I love the hat. It's a grey rollbrim, and it looks very cute. I also got a great turtleneck tunic in a nice brick red, two pairs of leggings (one black, one dark grey) and some ragg socks. It's kind of not a lot for $125, but I couldn't help it. Everything is such great quality and looks pretty good. As close as I'll get to the catalog life. |
